While being on the journey of becoming world famous Leadership and Life Coach, judgement/ critical nature of self or anyone else, has no place. It is easy to wear a Coach hat while in a session and be committed to helping the client with equal partnership, with only seeing things as is. That itself is good to be called a great coach, however for me, becoming an impactful and real coach is a journey where it is very essential to live, breathe, eat, listen, talk and walk in Coach Skin all through my life. Working from home, with less people around, has made it easy to be able to see things as is, to be able to wear coach skin and keep the judgmental and critical nature away. My first working outdoor, has shown me the mirror. I went in the WeWork office and unconsciously became cautious of "how I look" and with the realization, pulled myself back to RealMe.
The day was going well, being myself, the coach, before long I noticed a man eating his lunch. He was eating dal rice with hands, with food all over his hand, enjoying his lunch with food spilling on the table and licking his hands/ fingers while eating. How does this image make you feel? The first reaction I got was disgust, then the thought "what kind of person is he?" and many of us might see it the same way. For me, the practice of being a coach everywhere, helped me be aware and ask myself "Who am I to judge him?" "Why am I judging him?" and pulling myself back realising that the person owns his own life, he was enjoying his meal and "that is how I see it". No analysis, no judgement, no emotion, just being in my space and letting other person to be in his space :)
There were other instances as well but the good part was coming back quickly to the realiszation that I have my own space and someone else has their own. Knowing quiet well that my energy and mindspace are sacred, I want keep my energy for myself and my work, not to be given away on others.
